I do know that the 3451 was the original Dump of the game for the US version and 4997 was the dump of the ver 1.1 US release. Most sites I see do not list them but you can find them using some sites that lost the NFO file normally. The 3541/4997/4998 should just be referring to the original dump number. I'd like this to be a bit more visible for anyone wondering the same thing going into the future. I posted this question in the sticky, but it's getting old and my question is probably going to just get lost in the sea of questions in there. I would ask on r/PokemonROMhacks but it would break their rules. Is there possibly a way to find the version number of a ROM if it's not already in the title? Is it typically somewhere in the metadata that I can access with a particular program?

Even looking at the vault on Vimm, there is nothing about a "version number" in the metadata on any given ROM's page. Mine has the game title, the region in parentheses, and "(XenoPhobia)" at the end, before the file extension. None of the ROMs I have for Pokemon games have a number like this in the title. This was entirely foreign to me when I initially read it (still kinda is even after researching it since there's not much info on it, other than 3541 being an older version).

The readme for the hack says that the version number must be either 3541, 4997, or 4998, suggesting that it should be in the file name. I'm attempting to apply a ROM hack to Pokemon Platinum for DS, specifically Renegade Platinum. After searching for nearly an hour with zero relevant results on this sub, r/PokemonROMhacks, its sticky threads, and on Presearch and DuckDuckGo, and figuring that this is a question worthy of its own post.
